How to use the Toolkit

What is the Climate Justice and Resilience Toolkit?

Across Western Australia (WA), communities are increasingly facing the severe impacts of climate change and natural disasters. These challenges do not affect everyone equally; they disproportionately harm already marginalised communities, deepening existing social and economic inequalities. For community service organisations (CSOs), these impacts also pose significant barriers, disrupting daily operations and the essential services they provide. By recognising the interconnected nature of climate and social justice, the Climate Justice and Resilience Toolkit aims to support community service organisations, practitioners and communities to work together towards a just, climate-safe and resilient WA where no one gets left behind.

This toolkit was initiated by the WA community services sector, ECU’s Centre of People, Place and Planet and the Climate Justice Union (CJU) with strategic input and guidance from the Aboriginal Governance Group, the Lived Experiences Advisory Group and other stakeholders. Learn more about how the toolkit was created and who was involved here.

The toolkit is free and publicly available online. It offers comprehensive processes, resources and guidance for community service organisations to integrate climate justice and resilience into core structures, services, programs, and practice. For an overview of what’s included, view the illustrations below and explore them using the tabs to the side and above.

To help integrate climate justice and resilience, the toolkit is complemented by trainings, webinars, a community of practice, and funded partnership opportunities, which will be available from 2025 to 2026. These will help organisations implement climate justice tools into their services and programs while ensuring learnings are recorded and fed back into the toolkit, where they can be shared.
