By now, you may have scanned through this toolkit and be wondering: how do I get support to take action by implementing some of these processes and ideas?
This page shares activities and opportunities available to support WA community service organisations with infusing climate justice and resilience into their services, policies and advocacy! It includes information about workshops, funded partnerships and news associated with a broader program of work called Enhancing Climate Justice and Disaster Resilience in WA Community Services. It also other sources of support, funding and training.
Responding to and preparing for the unjust impacts of climate change doesn’t have to be difficult, though it does help to have support to get the ball rolling. That’s why funded partnerships (up to $50 000) and seed program funds (up to $6 000) are available to support WA community organisations integrate climate justice and disaster resilience into any aspect of a community service organisation and its service provision.
The seed program funding supports orgs to host a workshop or workshop serise within their local region for staff, leaders, volunteers and community members to learn and plan action for climate justice. Seed funds are a good place to start a conversation. The full funded partnerships involve organisations develop and undertake an initiative or project with the support of the Climate Justice and Disaster Resilience toolkit team. Free workshops are available to help services learn about and respond to climate injustices and impacts. Workshops are available in a range of formats including online, in house and in regions across WA.
The workshops are designed for staff, volunteers and key people who work at any organisation that provides social, community or health services in WA. They provide an opportunity for people to come together, learn, and explore practical ways to bring climate justice and disaster resilience into their work, policies, services or advocacy. Staff may be able to count the workshop towards their professional development hours.
Please read the participant information sheet to understand the optional research component of the workshops.

These workshops work best when they are tailored to different organisations, services and regions. For this reason, we invite organisations to co-host a workshop.
Co-host organisations will ensure the workshops are place-based, culturally appropriate and trauma-informed. Co-hosts are also expected to engage local Elders and people with Lived Experience to participate, share their experiences and expertise. For example, we can offer a one-day in-person workshop for staff across several organisations in a region or an in-house workshop for one service team.
Funding is available to support co-hosts in organising the workshop logistics (such as catering and venue) as well as lived experience and elder engagement and fair remuneration.
To ensure the workshops are accessible to organisations of all sizes in all regions of WA, we are also seeking partner organisations to co-host regional workshops. These will aim to reach the South West, Mid West, North West, and Goldfields/Esperance regions of WA. We invite Aboriginal-led organisations and community service organisations with strong, positive relationships in their communities.
To read more about this opportunity, please view the co-host information pack.
If you are interested in co-hosting a workshop for your organisation or region, please contact Joanne Hill at joanne.hill@ecu.edu.au
