Across Western Australia, communities are increasingly facing the severe impacts of climate change and natural disasters. These challenges do not affect everyone equally; they disproportionately harm already marginalised and discriminated communities, deepening existing social and economic inequalities. For community service organisations (CSOs), these impacts also pose significant barriers, disrupting daily operations and the essential services they provide.
It offers a comprehensive approach for CSOs to incorporate climate justice and disaster resilience into their core practices. By recognising the interconnected nature of climate and social justice, the Toolkit provides a framework that supports CSOs in working alongside their communities more effectively and equitably.
The Toolkit offers process-oriented tools, including climate justice principles workshops, engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Lived Experience engagement, identifying climate injustices in local communities, and much more.
